St. Luke’s Hospital & College of Nursing
The School of Nursing at St. Luke’s Hospital took its humble first step in 1963 with just seven students — a journey sparked by purpose and guided by faith. Led by the visionary Sr. Gisela, who served as the sole faculty and principal, the school began in a modest hospital room, which today houses the Pediatric Department.
Despite limited resources and language barriers, our very first batch made history by securing top ranks in the state — a testament to the unwavering commitment of the faculty and the indomitable spirit of the students.
Even in its early days, the institution embraced advanced teaching aids like the epidiascope, slide projector, and overhead projector — a bold step that showcased our dedication to progressive learning.
Driven by humanitarian service and deep-rooted values, practical learning was prioritized, while classroom instruction laid the foundation of knowledge. Over the years, as both the hospital and the school flourished, so did the nursing education offered here.
From a faculty of just 3 to 4 educators, the college now proudly hosts 26+ regular teaching staff, along with a team of visiting doctors and subject matter experts — all committed to nurturing future leaders in nursing.
What once began with 3 classrooms and a few hostel rooms has now evolved into a vibrant institution with fully equipped departments, shaping professionals ready to serve with knowledge, compassion, and integrity.
St. Luke’s College of Nursing stands as a beacon of dedicated service, academic excellence, and timeless values — preparing nurses not just for a career, but for a calling.
Our vision is to love heal and serve the suffering humanity with compassion and respect, committed to the nursing profession, constantly rendering holistic health care services for building and transforming the family, community, society and nation through education and research. It also enhances imparting quality education in a systematic manner by using innovative teaching and learning skills which will enhance the skills of the students
St. Luke’s college of nursing exists for developing nurses who are highly sensitive to the health needs of human beings, bearing legacy of our Founders Fr. John Bonal and Mother Maria Rafols, to reach out to the suffering humanity with love, care commitment, and cultural consciousness by educating the whole person – spiritually emotionally, intellectually, artistically, morally and physically.
